Miss Earth 2016 is Catherine Espin from Ecuador, beating 84 contestants from around the world. She will now advocate environmental awareness that seeks to promote the preservation of our environment during her one year reign. As a Miss Earth warrior, the newly crowned beauty queen aims to help the society to become more aware onthe essentials of conservation of our environment. Catherine is the second woman from Ecuador to win Miss Earth crown.

The conclusion of Miss Earth 2016 was held in the Mall of Asia Arena, in Bay City, Pasay City, Philippines. Catherine Espin was crowned onOctober 29, 2016, making it a memorable and a life changing event in her life. Catherine was crowned by the outgoing Miss Earth 2015 Angelia Gabriela Ong. The annual beauty pageant was televised by Star World Cable channel between 7 in the evening to 9 O' Clock. Miss Earth was live streamed online through Rappler via YouTube. Several pageant enthusiasts livestreamed Miss Earth pageant while attending the event live and then posting on Facebook.

Miss Earth Air 2016 or the first runner-up is Michelle Gomes from Colombia. Miss Earth Water 2016 goes to Stephanie de Zorzi from Venezuela. Miss Earth Fire 2016 goes to Bruna Zanardo from Brazil. These ladies will again appear for the next edition of Miss Earth 2017 where they will crown the next set of winners of the event.

Miss Earth is an annual international beauty pageant that is based in the Philippines. It is an environmental-based pageant where the participants will grace the event through an environmental campaign as its main vision. The pageant was initially called as Miss Asia-Pacific in 2000. Each year, there are over 80 plus delegates who will grace the stage and hopes to represent their countries that make an important contribution to ensure that Mother Earth will be protected by the people. The pageant started in 2001 and as of today, the pageant crowned at least 15 beauty queen with Catherin Espin from Ecuador as the latest titleholder.

Miss Earth beauty pageant is an event where the beauty meets environmental campaign. The winners are expected to banner Miss Earth organization to promote environmental awareness and conservation to our environment. They start their campaign by advocating Miss Earth pageant to ensure that the present society will start to respect Mother Earth. Aside from promoting the environment, the winner will also coordinate with  an eco-tourism campaign, promoting the essentials of tourism while maximizing environmental conservation.

Latin countries dominate the top 4 spots of Miss Earth 2016. Representatives from Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, and Ecuador were all from South America. One of the most interesting part of the pageant was the question and answer portion. The ladies took the opportunity to voice different insights regarding environmental protection to the audiences. Other notable delegate from Latin America is Mexico who made it to top 16 was Mexico.

Catherin Espin was the first runner-up of Miss Bikini Universe in 2015. She also joined Reina International del Cafe in 2013 but unplaced. He pageant experience was a major factor to boost her skills in pageantry.

Imelda Schweighart from the Philippines did not make it to top 16. Prior to the final's night, Imelda generated controversies from her social media account. She was criticized after likening President Duterte to Adolf Hitler. Even if she did not make it to top 16, Filipino fans still poured their support to the host delegate's representative.

This is the first time that the top 4 ladies were all from South America. Latinos will surely be proud of their representative's accomplishments.
