Former President Fidel V. Ramos was the former president of the Republic of the Philippines. He served as the head of state from June 30, 1992 to June 30, 1998. Ramos succeeded President Corazon Aquino who was the first female president of the Philippines, succeeding former President Ferdinand Marcos. Ramos was regarded as the most capable envoy because he made a positive bilateral relationship with the People's Republic of China when he was the President of the Philippines.
