Miss Earth 2016 international beauty pageant officially starts in October of 2016 as part of its traditional annual event. In 2012, Imelda Schweighart filed her application to the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Incorporated, which is the official organizer for Binibining Pilipinas (Miss Philippines) annual beauty pageant. Imelda's application was accepted after a series of screening, making her as an official candidate of Binibining Pilipinas' Golden year celebration of the pageant for operating at least 50 years. Imelda Schweighart penetrated the semi-finalist spot during the pageant.
Ariella Arida was the rightful winner and gained the license to represent the Philippines for the Miss Universe 2013 beauty pageant that was held in Russia. Ariella Arida landed the 3rd runner-up during the event. During this golden year, there were two representatives produced by the Binibining Pilipinas to various international pageants. They are Bea Alonzo who won as Miss International 2013. Mutya Datul also won Miss Supranational 2013, which is the first Filipina woman to win such title.
