Three decades ago, the Philippines was the center of media attention from around the world. The EDSA (Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue) Revolution is one of the most historic Philippine revolutions for having a peaceful revolution in contrast from the previous history of bloody revolts. During this time, there was no single drop of blood that was seen during that period when the Philippines transitioned its governance from the previous political administration. This is the reason why entire Philippines commemorates EDSA revolution every 25th of February of each year to remember political heroes who helped the Philippines to transition from autocratic ruling into a democratic society.

In this time of the year, EDSA is expected to be divided between two of the largest political parties in the Philippines. They are the Liberal Party, which was the solid supporter of the Aquino, symbolizing the yellow color and the "L" hand sign. On the other hand, The PDP-Laban (Partido Demokratiko Pilipino) is bannered under the Duterte administration. The Liberal Political Party and its supporters will rally within the vicinity of EDSA Shrine. Die-hard Duterte supporters will rally in Luneta or in the Quirino Grandstand, which accommodates more people than those who are within the EDSA shrine later this day. Both parties will only have one goal, which is to celebrate the anniversary of EDSA Revolution that took place between the dates of February 22 and 26 in 1986.

The EDSA Revolution is the current most popular politically motivated revolution in Philippine's modern history. It commemorates the ouster of former President Ferdinand Marcos from his seat and replacing him with Corazon Aquino. The revolution took place in EDSA, which is the busiest road in the Philippines, snaking the cities of Caloocan, Quezon, San Juan, Mandaluyong, Makati, and Pasay.

Before the revolution, EDSA was formerly known as "North-South Circumferential Road" during the 1930's due to the route of the road, which was constructed by Osmundo Monsod and Florencio Moreno. The road was renamed as "highway 54" in 1950's for believing that it was 54 kilometers long. On the 7th of April in 1959, Republic Act No. 2140 was then approved, renaming the road to Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue, which is popularly known today as EDSA. The name was named after Epifanio Delos Santos, who was a historian, philanthropist, jurist, and a scholar. This is the place where the modern revolution took place when the Philippines transitioned its political power from the Marcoses to the Aquino administration in 1980.

EDSA is always the main pathway for rallyists whenever they want to apply their freedom of expression against a certain institution such as the government. Leftist groups often walk through the EDSA to express their opinions, concerns, and their opposition to any government institution, agency, or politician. EDSA witnessed numerous politically-motivated activities through the years. This road is one of the most historic in the Philippine history because it played an important role in shouldering numerous revolutions, crackdowns, and catering major international events from time to time. Many believe that EDSA played an important role in their personal and professional lives until today.
