Philippine Tourism Secretary indicated that Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte does not want Steve Harvey to host Miss Universe beauty pageant once again. Steve Harvey is expected to host the pageant this coming pageant on January 30, 2017 in Manila, Philippines, which is indicated from the contract of both parties with regards to anchoring the event. Harvey was chosen by the Miss Universe Organization since it was already handled by IMG. Donald Trump granted IMG as the next owner of the organization after it gave up due to his US presidential candidacy that will take place on November of this year.
Secretary Wanda Teo met with President Rodrigo Duterte to discuss about the Philippine tourism campaign. When they talked about the hosting of Miss Universe, President Rodrigo Duterte indicated that he does not want Steve Harvey to host the pageant one more time while it will be held in the Philippines. President Duterte did not indicate the exact reason why Steve Harvey is not included in his cup of tea. But it is clear that the president wants somebody else to be appointed as the host for the 65th edition of Miss Universe that will take place in Manila.

Steve Harvey was the first host of Miss Universe Organization under the new management of IMG. During the coronation night, Steve Harvey made a terrible mistake for reading the wrong country of the winner. The wrong announcement erupted emotional outbursts between Latin American countries against Asian candidates, sparking protests and heated discussions through the mainstream media. The wrong announcement created numerous hate speech against other race, nationality, ethnic groups, and gender due to a one simple mistake. It created a worldwide sensation with regards to Steve Harvey's mistake.
Heated arguments and discussions are probably the main reasons why President Rodrigo Duterte wants to have another fresh host to anchor Miss Universe beauty pageant. This is to prevent similar incidents that can happen in the future because a simple mistake can generate a worldwide dilemma that can last for years. As a president, hosting a major event should be in perfection so that foreign visitors will not initiate doubts regarding the ability of the Philippines to host an international event such as Miss Universe.
Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo has another idea of maintaining Steve Harvey as a host. But this time, there should be at least another host that will accompany Steve Harvey during the Miss Universe pageant competition. A Filipina from the media will be selected to host along with Steve Harvey, which will can further fulfill the vision and mission of the Department of Tourism to fulfill Miss Universe hosting.
The 65th edition of Miss Universe will be hosted by the Philippines on January 30, 2017. This will be the country's third time to host the most anticipated international beauty pageant event after 22 years. Pageant fanatics from all over the world will be traveling to the Philippines to watch the event as well as to visit the country's diverse culture, tradition, and sights.
Reigning Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach will return to the Philippines to crown her successor. She will vacate her apartment when returning to the Philippines, which will be occupied by the new winner after the crowning. Pia Wurtzbach is the third Filipina to win the title.
The Philippines hopes to escalate the number of contestants to 100 or more, making it a historical beauty pageant for the Miss Universe and the Miss Universe Organization.
